ECREA – INTERCULTURAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION SECTION
Bellaterra (Barcelona), November 6th – 8th 2013
The International and Intercultural Communication Section of ECREA presents its international Conference on Communication, Development and Human Rights: social change and media flows. The three-days conference will discuss the role of media in international (news) media flows, intercultural communication and communication for development and social change. With only two months separating us from what looks like to be a very interesting conference with international participants, please find below some useful information.
The final programma will be posted online in due time. The conference starts on 6 November with two full days of paper sessions. On Friday 8 November, there will be PhD-students’ sessions and workshops in the morning. All participants are invited to join these sessions.
Registration and conference fee
Participants are requested to use the registration form (IIC Registration form_ECREA 2013) and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please pay the conference fee of 50 EURO via bank transfer at least two weeks in advance of the conference. Participants requiring an official letter of invitation to obtain their visa, please contact the section’s chair Teresa Velazquez (Teresa.Velazquez@uab.es) with all necessary information (e.g. passport number, full names, country of residence, …).
Full papers are to be sent to email@example.com before 1 October 2013 with a maximum word count of 7500 words (including references). Papers will be made available to all registered conference participants.
Barcelona is a very popular tourist destination and it hosts a large number of hotels from all different price ranges. The local conference committee has selected a list of hotels that are close by the conference venue and/or offer special discount rates for conference participants. The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Communication Studies of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The UAB Campus is located in Bellaterra (around 35 minutes from Barcelona). The address of the conference venue is Faculty of Communication Studies – Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB Campus – Building I, 08193 Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès), Barcelona – Spain. How to get there?
– From the airport to Barcelona: there are different options of transport from the Airport El Prat –Barcelona to the city (http://www.aena-aeropuertos.es/csee/Satellite/Aeropuerto-Barcelona/en/Page/1237554338469)
– From Barcelona to the UAB Campus: Take the public train (Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat – FGC), lines S2 or S55, to the station “Universitat Autònoma” (http://www.fgc.es/eng/barcelona-valles.asp). Or take a cab from Barcelona to the campus, with a cost around 35 EURO. If you are staying at the Hotel SERHS Campus (www.serhscampushotel.com), this hotel is a 10 minute walk from the conference venue. A taxi from the Airport directly to this Hotel in the UAB campus could cost around 50 EURO.
